Dr. Sulagna Misra is a board-certified physician, medical educator, medical affairs specialist, writer, and physician leader with experience spanning direct patient care, healthcare systems, medical education, and independent medical analysis.

Independent physician review of medical records, clinical timelines, laboratory data, diagnostic reports, medication histories, treatment decisions, documentation, and other relevant medical information.
Early physician review to help counsel understand the medical issues in a potential matter, identify areas requiring further investigation, and determine whether the available record supports further expert evaluation.
Independent analysis of physician care, clinical decision-making, diagnostic evaluation, treatment, follow-up, documentation, escalation of care, continuity of care, and related medical issues when within Dr. Misra's expertise.
Evaluation of the relationship between medical events, diagnoses, treatment, underlying disease, medications, clinical decisions, and alleged injuries or outcomes when appropriate to the matter.
Objective medical review for matters requiring an independent physician assessment of the available clinical information.
In-person examinations may be available when clinically and legally appropriate, within Dr. Misra's expertise, and agreed upon in advance. When the nature of an examination requires clinical assistance or an appropriate chaperone, Registered Nurse support may be arranged separately.
Telephone or video consultation regarding medical records, clinical issues, case strategy from a medical perspective, medical terminology, chronology, strengths or limitations of the medical evidence, and preparation for deposition or trial.
Written opinions, reports, declarations, affidavits, chronologies, or other medical-legal work product may be provided when agreed upon as part of the engagement.
Dr. Misra is available for deposition and trial testimony when retained for the matter and when scheduling permits.
Time-sensitive matters may be considered depending on scope, record volume, deadlines, and Dr. Misra's availability. Applicable deadlines should be disclosed with the initial inquiry.

The retaining party does not determine the medical opinion. All conclusions are independently developed based on the medical record, applicable medical standards, clinical experience, relevant medical evidence, and the facts of the individual matter.
Dr. Misra personally reviews the materials relevant to her expert opinions and independently formulates and authors her substantive medical analysis.
Expert opinions are not delegated to staff. Substantive expert opinions and reports are not generated by artificial intelligence.
Administrative or clinical support may be used when appropriate, but the physician opinion remains Dr. Misra's own.
Pricing
A one-hour minimum applies. Professional services are billed in one-hour increments. Any portion of an hour is billed as a full hour. Fees are not contingent on the outcome of a matter.
Applies to all professional physician time devoted to a matter.
Administrative work related to a medical-legal matter is billed separately when applicable.
RN services are used only when clinically appropriate, such as when an in-person physician examination requires clinical assistance or an appropriate chaperone. RN services are not routinely added to record review, physician consultation, deposition, or testimony.
$1,450 per hour
A signed engagement agreement and funded retainer are required before any professional work begins.
Dr. Misra does not begin substantive review before the required retainer has been received. Retainer funds are applied against professional fees and other agreed charges.
If the remaining retainer becomes insufficient to cover anticipated work, replenishment is required before additional work begins. Work may pause until the required replenishment has been received.
Additional advance funding may be required before substantial record review, reports, examinations, depositions, trial, travel, or other significant blocks of professional time are scheduled or performed.
Professional services are not contingent on the outcome of a matter. Payment is for Dr. Misra's professional time and expertise, not for any particular opinion, conclusion, or result.
How it works
A conflict check must be completed before substantive medical records, protected health information, or confidential case materials are transmitted.
Step 1
Email [email protected] with only the information necessary to conduct the conflict check. Please do not send substantive medical records.
Step 2
Once the matter has been cleared, the engagement agreement, retainer requirements, fee schedule, and secure record-transfer instructions will be provided.
Step 3
Work begins only after the engagement agreement has been executed and the required retainer has been funded.
After the conflict check and engagement are completed, secure instructions will be provided for transmitting medical records and other confidential case materials.
Please do not send medical records, protected health information, or confidential case documents through the general website contact form or ordinary initial inquiry email.
Submitting an inquiry or completing a conflict check does not by itself retain Dr. Misra or create a physician-patient, attorney-client, or expert-client relationship. An engagement exists only after the applicable engagement agreement has been executed and the required retainer has been funded.
Travel time is professional time and is billed at $1,450 per hour.
Travel expenses are separate and are paid in addition to professional fees. Travel-related expenses may include airfare, lodging, ground transportation, mileage, parking, meals, baggage, and other reasonable expenses required for the engagement.
Travel arrangements and anticipated expenses must be agreed upon and funded in advance.
Depositions, trial testimony, examinations, hearings, travel days, and other scheduled appearances reserve professional time that is unavailable for other work. Advance payment will be required to reserve this time.
Late cancellation or rescheduling will result in a cancellation charge based on the amount of professional time reserved. For full-day reservations, the applicable full-day reserved fee may remain due when cancellation occurs within the cancellation period specified in the engagement agreement.
Non-refundable travel expenses remain the responsibility of the retaining party.
The detailed cancellation periods, reserved-time requirements, advance-payment requirements, and related contractual provisions are included in the formal engagement agreement.
Yes. Dr. Misra accepts appropriate matters from both plaintiff and defense counsel and independently evaluates the medical evidence.

No. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Dr. Misra's physician professional rate is $1,450 per hour for review, consultation, preparation, deposition, testimony, examination, waiting or reserved professional time when applicable, and travel time.

The retainer must be replenished before additional professional work is performed.
No. A conflict check should be completed before substantive medical records, protected health information, or confidential case materials are transmitted.
